Johnny Wadd/Review

< Johnny Wadd

Awhile back I talked about The Jade Pussycat, one of the sequels in the long-running Johnny Wadd franchise. But every hero has their own origin, so I tracked down and found a copy of Johnny Wadd, the original 1971 crime-porn movie starring John Holmes. Needless to say, Johnny Wadd is different from other action heroes because he spends lots of time having sex rather than investigating actual crimes, just like the opening credits of this film says: "From California to Rio Grande, he shot his wad all over the land".

The movie begins with Johnny driving his Porsche to his home while Ennio Morricone's "Ecstacy of Gold" from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is playing (we'll talk about this later). Then the music is cut IMMEDIATELY so we can hear the narration from Johnny. He says that he's a private detective...and "the hottest and the most dangerous" case in his career is about to begin. He has to find a missing girl. Next, he talks to (and, of course, has sex with) her friends (again, I'll talk about this later). Finally, he rescues a girl and then has sex with her. Really? This is the most dangerous case in your career? Hell, even generic episodes of CHiPs are far more dangerous than this!

As you can see, this one is totally different from The Jade Pussycat. While that film has a really interesting plot and MacGuffin, here, 80% of the film is sex scenes. Seriously, he has sex with everyone he meets. This leads us to the next topic, Johnny's cock. Well, don't look at me like that. I'm straight. The sex scenes have not-so-good editing and soundtrack, so the real highlight of the scenes is John Holmes' gigantic penis. Well, I think I don't have to say much about that.

Remember when I mentioned "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" soundtrack? That song is the main theme in this movie. (Gee, I wonder if they got it legally or not). Although it feels kinda awkward, it makes our hero look even more awesome and kinda epic.

In conclusion, it's not as good as its sequel. This one is only recommended for John Holmes fans and people who wants to find out the first chapter of Johnny Wadd's adventures.
