- The original title for the film was Desperate Teenage Runaways. Producer Kim Fowley who owned the name of the all-girl rock band The Runaways made director David Markey change it (because of the similarities).
- Rights to the recordings on the soundtrack were not obtained, so the songs were replaced with new songs or cover versions. However, many of the original introductions remain.
